Who Picks The Player Of The Month?
Like the Manager Of The Month award, the Player Of The Month award is selected by fans and a of experts.
The winner is chosen by a combination of an online public vote, a of experts and the captain of each Premier League club.
The public vote contributes to 10% of the final tally with the experts and captains making up the remaining 90%.
A shortlist is drawn up and then you get to have your say by voting on the EA Sports website here.
Through votes and debates, the collective voice contributes to crowning the Premier League’s standout player.
It’s a democratic process that adds to the award’s prestige. A nod from the fans is a tip of the hat to the player’s appeal and influence on the game.
It is currently known as the EA Sports Player of the Month, however, when it first started it was called the Carling Premiership Player of the Month (1994–2001).
With a new sponsor it then became known as the Barclaycard Premiership Player of the Month (2001–2004) and subsequently, the Barclays Player of the Month (2004–2016).

When Is Player of the Month Announced?
At the end of the month, a shortlist of six players is announced by both Barclays and EA Sports. The general public then have around six days to cast their votes.
Those votes are then combined with those of a of football experts and the winner is announced the following week.
Player of the Month is announced half way through the following month, usually by around the 12th or 13th.
Who Was The First player of the Month?
German striker Jürgen Klinsmann was the first footballer to receive the Premier League Player of the Month award.
This recognition came in August 1994, following his debut with Tottenham Hotspur.
